I’ve never really been comfortable with my skin; in fact I was very self conscious of it growing up, especially when acne hit! Puberty was NOT fun.

As I got older, I discovered that not only did I have combination skin, I had very sensitive skin, so most of the products that I thought would help get me clear skin actually made matters worse because I would react to them violently OR it would appear as though my skin was clearing and then I would react in a few weeks.

At one point, I stopped using products all together and my skin started clearing a little bit.

Shortly after I stopped using products

A few months ago, in the middle of Bar Finals, I discovered my face was covered in spots. I tried everything, high-end products, traditional products, bar soap… nothing worked. Make-Up even made matters worse, so of course I stopped putting any on face. Two of my friends  then told me about Clinique, I was not keen at first but I personally witnessed how well it worked for them so I thought I’d give it a try.

I saw changes in three weeks, my skin felt better, it looked better and it was brighter! I could not believe my eyes. I also used something called the DARK-SPOT CORRECTOR

This is Heaven in a bottle. It does exactly what it says, it helps fade out dark spots.

Image on the right shows my skin before I started using the Dark Spot Corrector, and the image on the left shows my skin a few weeks ago.

After Clinique, make up became a chore, I suddenly felt more confident walking out of the house with absolutely nothing on my face. However, simply using these products did not achieve the above results.

  1. Aloe Vera: It is the most disgusting thing I have ever tasted BUT it has changed my life. Aloe Vera is the best spot/ blemish corrector ever and the best part of it is, it’s free. My Grandmother told me about it and I thought she was just being a Grandma, but after trying it I was convinced. A little bit of the aloe-juice (from the natural plant) all over your face, clears spots and makes your skin brighter. (You can also try aloe on your hair, it’s great for the roots!)
  2. Water: Guys, water really does work; that’s pretty much all I can say. Also, I started washing my face with bottled water and I did notice a difference. What most of us forget is, pimples are really caused by bacteria; clean water with a drop of Dettol or Savlon helps. (Too much Savlon or Dettol may be too harsh on sensitive skin so a tiny drop will suffice).
  3. Diet: Too much oil most definitely does not help you get great skin, so try as much as possible to stay away from these. That being said, I love fried food, so I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil to fry everything these days, it tastes a little different but it’s healthier!

A few weeks ago, I complained about how bored I was of hair and quite a lot of our readers suggested I put my hair in box-braids. Well, I didn’t need that much convincing!
